Running a CHARONCP command to load a tape returns the following error:

$ charoncp set magtape mka601: /load="/data/tapes/charoncp.vtape"

%SYSTEM-W-BADFILENAME, bad file name syntax

%SYSTEM-W-BADFILENAME, bad file name syntax

Solution

Check the configuration is correctly set according to the documentation → the removable parameter must be set to true for the virtual tape.

Example 1:

set PKA container[601] = ".vtape"

set PKA removable[601] = true

Example 2:

set PKA container[601] = ".vtape" removable[601] = true

(warning) Reminder: any update in the configuration file requires Charon to be restarted
