Windows Server 2012 R2 crash when networking is configured on Charon-VAX, -AXP, or -PDP versions 4.5 - 4.8

Problem

Windows Server 2012 R2 crashes (blue screen) when Charon-VAX, -PDP, or -AXP is configured with access to network adapters. It crashes on Charon startup apparently as soon as Charon tries to access network adapters. If Charon is configured with adapters set to (disabled), the crash does not occur.

Windows crash dump analysis indicates that the system crashes with DPC Timeout BugCheck in Windows network adapter driver.

(This far the problem had been observed only on servers with HP Virtual Connect network infrastructure).

Solution

Please make sure that Charon NDIS driver is not enabled on the network interfaces that are not dedicated to Charon.
