Guest system hangs with TX overflow messages in the log file

Problem

On Linux servers when using the detached option to run a guest, for example:

# as4100 -d /mydir/mysystem.cfg

the system hangs and error messages are written to the guest log file similar to the following:

20131009:164703:ERROR:2:000001D8: srlio.cxx(1740): OPA0: Detected TX overflow while sending ...

(warning) This can prevent the guest system from booting due to buffer issues

Solution

This applies to Charon AXP 4.4 and below.

Available solutions:

  • Install version Charon AXP 4.5, build 15502 minimum or
  • Manually connect to the console via telnet or
  • Add an automatic connection to the console using the screen command for example or
  • Install the Linux Utilities kit that includes guests automatic start and stop and console autoconnect (if not already done manually).
