The ncu utility fails with nm_client_get_devices error
Problem
The "ncu
" utility fails with the following error message:
** (process:42776): WARNING **: nm_client_get_devices: error
getting devices: The name org.freedesktop.NetworkManager was not
provided by any .service files |
Affected versions: All Charon-AXP and Charon-VAX versions up to V4.8 B18303 running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x
If Charon is installed on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x or a CentOS 7.x server, "ncu
" will report an error message telling the service is not running:
Error: NetworkManager is not running. |
Solution
The NetworkManager service must be started in order to have all the "ncu
" functionalities enabled.
To start the service, use the following command:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x:
# service NetworkManager start
.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x, CentOS 7.x
# systemctl start NetworkManager
.
If the NetworkManager service must not run on your server, please use the manual configurations steps detailed in the Charon Users Guide to configure the network interfaces.
