Installing and Updating a License

Once the Sentinel HASP runtime software has been installed, licenses can be installed and updated on the system. The following sections

describe the necessary steps to accomplish these tasks. Before continuing to these sections, please read the short overview of the installation and update tasks for the different license types below.

License Installation and Update Overview

Hardware License Installation

Hardware licenses are simply inserted into a free USB port of the system they should be connected to. To verify that the license is available to the system, use the steps described in Viewing a License. The hardware license should be inserted after the software has been installed. Should you have inserted the USB dongle before installing the software and the license is not visible, please remove and reinsert the USB dongle.

Software License Installation

For the installation of a new software license, create a fingerprint file as described in Generating C2V and Fingerprint Files. This file is sent to Stromasys to request a new software license. Once the requested license data is received, follow the steps in Applying/Updating License Data from V2C File(s).

Network License Installation

On the license server, the network-enabled hardware or software license is installed in the same way as it would be for a local installation. To serve the license to clients over the network, the additional steps described in Tasks Specific to Network Licenses may be required. The Sentinel HASP runtime software should also be installed on the client systems to take advantage of all product features and to avoid unexpected problems.

License Update Overview

For a license update, the steps are almost identical for hardware and software licenses. They are described in the chapters: Generating C2V and Fingerprint FilesSending C2V File to Stromasys and Obtaining V2C File and Applying/Updating License Data from V2C File(s). Any changes to a new hardware license are treated as license updates as well.
