Important note

  • (warning) All previous versions of CHARON-AXP/SMA have to be uninstalled before installing version 2.3.3

Changes

  • Redesigned license module to conform with CHARON-AXP and CHARON-VAX license specifications including checksum thus allowing CHARON-AXP/SMA to run on the same server as CHARON-AXP and/or CHARON-VAX,
  • USB reset support when encountering license session error,
  • Updated NDIS (network) driver to the latest version,
  • Windows 10 support
  • Windows 2008 R2 requires SP1 and the KB3033929 patch installed


Note

With recent versions of Windows 10 (21H1 for example), Windows will crash with blue screen during the installation of the license driver. This is due to the old version of the driver provided with the kit. Please contact us to get the Charon License Utility and install the latest available driver. Then restart the Charon-AXP/SMA installation.

(warning) Do not install the driver provided by Gemalto, the driver must be provided by Stromasys.

New Features and Changes in 2.2.40

This chapter notes the changes that were made in CHARON-AXP/SMA for Microsoft Windows 2.1.1, produced on 22-FEB-2008.

Changes

  • A new version (V 1.2) of the IDLE mechanism is available and it is advised to upgrade to this version.

  • Virtual tape is too slow.
  • Disk offline on CDROM attached to ISP1040 controller.
  • Emulator crashes with 1536MB emulated memory.
  • Console output is not complete in SRM console mode.

  • Invalid DECNET address output removed.

Limitations

  • Cluster node reboot fails. Workaround: shutdown the emulator, stop it, and start again.

  • Cannot boot from a different disk after halting. Workaround: stop the emulator, start it and boot again from a different disk.
  • SRM variable AUTO_ACTION is not implemented correctly.

  • Virtual tape READ POSITION bugs fixed.

Changes

  •  PuTTY is now the default terminal emulator. Putty is a freeware terminal emulator included in the CHARON-AXP setup kit.

Limitations

  • When the emulator exits PUTTY shows an error box: "Network Error: Software caused connection abort".
  • Backspace and delete do not work in the SRM console.
