This user's Getting Started guide is intended for anyone who needs to install, configure, or manage the Stromasys Charon-SSP processor/platform virtualization software based on the in the Azure cloud. Its main focus is on installations that use the prepackaged Charon-SSP images available on the Azure Cloud marketplace. However, it may also be helpful when creating a Linux server in the cloud for a conventional RPM installation of Charon-SSP products. A general working knowledge of PC operating systems and their conventions is expected.

Charon-SSP can be installed in different environments and uses different packaging for such environments.

This guide describes the cloud-specific aspects of Charon-SSP for Azure. it is supplemented by the general Charon-SSP User's Guide and the VE License Server User's Guide.

Overview of the relevant documentation for Availability of cloud-specific Charon-SSP for Azure:

• This Getting Started Guide covers the basic installation and setup of the Charon-SSP for Azure Cloud product variants, These appliance packages contain the full software set including the underlying Linux host operating system.
• Product features, configuration, and management of the Charon-SSP products are covered in the general Charon-SSP User's Guide.
• VE (Virtual Environment) licenses are covered in the VE License Server User's Guide.
• The Release Notes of your product provide important information regarding known problems and possible workarounds.

• Setting up a an Azure Cloud Instance for Charon-SSP Azure Cloud Instance: basic steps to create and launch a cloud instance to be used as a Charon-SSP Azure instancehost system.
• Installing the Charon-SSP Manager: steps to install the main management tool for the cloud-based Charon-SSP cloud host instance.
• Installing the VE License Server Software: steps to install the VE license server package if VE licenses are to be used.
• Accessing the Charon-SSP Cloud Instance: basic steps to access explains how to use SSH, SFTP, and the Charon-SSP Manager to access the cloud-based Charon host instance for management and file transfer, and how to set the initial management password.
• Additional Charon-SSP Azure Instance Configuration: steps to add additional storage and network interfaces; introduction to cloud-specific networking aspects.

Please note:

• Cloud providers may change their management GUI without prior warning. Hence, the screenshots in this document may not always reflect the latest GUI appearance of the cloud provider. However, they will still provide an illustration of the described configuration steps.

• In general, the sample outputs in this document may show different versions than the one documented in this manual, but they are still representative of what a user will see.
