Problem if the agent on target system is not running or unreachable:
If you receive an error similar to the one displayed in the screenshot below, verify that the host specified in the IP address field is correct and that access is not blocked by a firewall or security group. If the problem persists, connect to your instance via SSH, become the root user and restart the Charon Agent (# /etc/init.d/charon systemctl restart ssp-agentd-ssp restart
).
Remember that the automatically assigned public IP address changes when the instance is restarted (this is different from a persistent Elastic IP addressesaddress).

Charon-SSP Manager for AWS Overview

Main Functions Overview
The image below provides a first overview of the Charon Manager menus:
Charon Manager on Microsoft Windows
The Charon-SSP Manager GUI is almost identical on Windows. However, there are some small differences:
- The serial console access on Windows is implemented via PuTTY. Hence, the icon bar at the top of the Charon-SSP Manager screen contains an additional terminal symbol for the serial console.
- The Virtual Machine menu contains a settings option for PuTTY instead of Console Options. Please note that the PuTTY connection is not tunneled through the Charon Manager SSH tunnel (unlike the Linux built-in console version). Therefore, either the firewall or security group of the target system must be adapted to the required ports or a VPN connection (strongly recommended if traffic runs over a public network) must be used.
- Xserver management is not integrated with the Charon-SSP Manager on Windows. Hence, the menu option X11 Server is not available in the Tools menu. Instead it includes a VNC server option.
