Each Charon emulator product requires a valid license to run. To access the license, the emulator needs the Sentinel runtime software. This software is part of the Charon-HPA PAR for Linux installation kits. Refer to the software installation section for software installation instructions.

(warning) Charon-HPA PAR version 2.0 and higher is incompatible with licences of earlier versions. Earlier product versions are incompatible with licenses for Charon-HPA PAR 2.0 and higher.

If you have a hardware USB license dongle, simply connect it to the system after the Charon-HPA PAR software has been installed and verify that the license can be read correctly by entering the following command:

$ /opt/charon/bin/hasp_srm_view -all

(warning) Please note that this command must be run from a local connection. If you are connected over a remote connection (e.g., ssh), you will receive an error. As a workaround, you can display the license contents with the following command (adapt the path of the command if your installation location is different):
